Our Story
Born on the Rubicon Trail
Rubicon Dog was born in an unfortunately relatable moment that many dog owners have experienced. For co-founder Alex that moment came for the last time on the Rubicon Trail when he suddenly had to brake with his Lab sitting in the back seat. In a flash his instincts kicked in, his arm reaching back to protect his precious cargo from the sudden stop. Catastrophe averted; he knew there had to be a better way.
After endless searching for a safe and comfortable way to secure his Lab in the car, his only options were flimsy baskets and tarps that wouldn't solve his problem. He asked himself if we have car seats designed to protect our children, why not our dogs. He set out on a journey to build the perfect dog car seat and the Rubicon Dog Car Seat was born.
“I wasn't looking to reinvent the way we travel with dogs, I just wanted to be able to take my dogs everywhere I go!”
